Thank You, God!

Thank You, God!

Americans will celebrate Thanksgiving this year on Thursday, November 23. Gratitude is a constant theme in the life of Catholics—Eucharist is based in words that mean “thanksgiving.” Catechists can emphasize gratitude in the classroom through constant modeling—for example, by noting a child’s selfless help of another student or by encouraging children to offer prayers of praise and thanksgiving to God. Pflaum offers several free printables that reinforce gratitude for all of our blessings.

  • Seeds children can cut, color, and assemble A Thank-You Puzzle, which is available in Spanish and English. They can also give thanks for things orange in The Color Orange activity page.
  • After completing their A Thank-You Prayer coloring page, Promise students will offer a prayer of gratitude.
  • In the Pilgrims and Prayer activity for Good News students, the children will read the story of Squanto and the Pilgrims, complete a crossword puzzle, and write a prayer of thanksgiving.
