Families will gather in Dublin, Ireland, this August 21–26, for the World Meeting of Families. Pope Francis will join the celebration for the Festival of Families on August 25 and will be the main celebrant for the Final Mass on August 26. Since 1994, the Church has hosted international events that honor, support, and encourage strong Catholic families. Pflaum provides ongoing support to families through its materials, including:

  • The Gospel at Home – Available weekly in Spanish and English, The Gospel at Home offers the Sunday Gospel theme, lesson summaries to promote discussion, and a common Family Prayer for the week.
  • The Gospel for All Ages Family Catechesis – For large-group, multi-age gatherings or house church formats, The Gospel for All Ages Family Catechesis provides weekly Gospel questions for preschoolers through adults. It also includes a script for weekly gatherings, including music suggestions, prayers, and Scripture reflection. Plans for quarterly seasonal gatherings include a fall welcome event, Advent, Lent, and a summer send-off.
  • Family Corner/Rincón de la familia – Every week in every lesson, the editors of the Pflaum Gospel Weeklies have created a common prayer, activity, and question to encourage family discussion of the Sunday Gospel theme.
  • Weekly Reviews and Assessments – If you teach the Weeklies at home or if your child misses a scheduled class, weekly assessments and review templates can help your child show his/her knowledge of the Sunday Gospel theme. Weekly review templates are available in Spanish and English for all five levels of the Weeklies—Seeds, Promise, Good News, Venture, and Visions. Weekly lesson assessments are available for Good News, Venture, and Visions. You may choose to print the lesson assessments or use the interactive PDF.

This week, share in the prayers of the people who will attend the WMOF by praying the Official Family Prayer for World Meeting of Families 2018:

God, our Father,

We are brothers and sisters in Jesus your Son,

One family, in the Spirit of your love.

Bless us with the joy of love.

Make us patient and kind,

gentle and generous,

welcoming to those in need.

Help us to live your forgiveness and peace.

Protect all families with your loving care,

Especially those for whom we now pray:

[We pause and remember family members and others by name.]

Increase our faith,

Strengthen our hope,

Keep us safe in your love,

Make us always grateful for the gift of life that we share.

This we ask, through Christ our Lord,

Amen.

Mary, mother and guide, pray for us.

Saint Joseph, father and protector, pray for us.

Saints Joachim and Anne, pray for us.

Saints Louis and Zélie Martin, pray for us.
