Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque

Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque

330

Sometimes you just can’t win. Margaret Mary Alacoque wanted to be a religious sister almost all of her life. When she entered the convent, some of the leaders thought she was showing off because she spent so much time in prayer! But Margaret Mary heard Jesus in her prayers. He shared his sorrow that people reject the love he offers through his Sacred Heart. She believed that she was called to reestablish devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Though others doubted her, Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque spent her life dedicated to this mission. Shortly before she died at just 43, she said, “I need nothing but God, and to lose myself in the heart of Jesus.” The Church celebrates her feast day on October 16. Share her story with your children and families.
