Our prayers often focus on the things for which we are thankful and for those things we may need. But do you ever thank God for the things for which you aren’t especially thankful? If you live in a chilly climate (like all of the editors of the Pflaum Gospel Weeklies!), it may be hard to find the blessings in frigid weather. The Seeds activity page, Thank You, God, for Winter encourages Seeds children to identify objects related to winter. As a class, you can then offer prayers of thanksgiving for all of the best parts of the season, including a warm home.
The Church provides prayers appropriate to all times and seasons. Our Prayers is a matching activity that helps Good News children identify the prayers of the Church. It includes those prayers that are a part of the Mass and the Sacraments, as well as many of the prayers that children say with their families as part of a meal or evening prayer time. A reminder: many of these prayers are available in the children’s What the Church Believes and Teaches handbooks.
